Grow and Be Happy

Grow and Be Happy, 12x12, oil on canvas |
~The lovely gardener held up the small lavender plant and with a smile whispered, “I hope you flourish with health and beauty and bring joy to all who meet you.” Some may think it foolish to talk to a plant, but she had compassion on even the tiniest of God’s creatures. The fresh woodsy air lifted her tresses as she gently coaxed the roots to let go of the pot and consider the warmth of the earth’s soil. The roots stretched and popped but continued to hang on for dear life. “It’s ok, trust me,” she insisted. Once the roots let go, she massaged them, helping them relax a little. Gently placing the lavender in the freshly dug hole, she covered it with rich soil, making sure the dirt was patted down to protect the roots. “See, it’s not so bad, is it?” she asked the lavender. “I know it’s a strange feeling to be transplanted, but here you have room to grow and realize your strength and beauty.” She then filled a galvanized water pitcher and sprinkled deliciously wet water on the plant, washing away the dust from the move. The lovely gardener waved goodbye as the hazy sunshine lit the garden, "Grow and be happy!” The lavender decided she would. 🙂
What a delightful little story!
