Dear Diary

Dear Diary, 24x24, oil on canvas

Before the paints come out and the fun begins, there absolutely has to be a period of time for dreaming. Dreaming about what feeling I want my next painting to take on. What color scheme? What figures? What vibe am  I wanting to express? This is where dream work comes into action. Dreaming takes time and a bit of solitude. I’ve found that my best dream work happens when I'm taking a walk. There’s something about movement that channels creative energy. And when I’m by myself, I can totally relax and just wonder and wander.

Sometimes as I’m wondering and wandering, I get a sense that a collaboration is about to take place between my spirit and His Spirit. I listen from deep within. That’s when my step gets a little lighter and I can’t wait to get to the drawing board.

~ For God has not given us a spirit of fear and timidity, but of power, love, and self-discipline. 2 Timothy 1:7
