She Danced

She Danced, 24x30, oil on canvas

~Her tired feet carried her into the mid-morning woods, where she stopped and took pause. She slipped off the tight heels and sensed the earth pulling her down to this world: A world filled with shadow. Her soul was downcast. Then God's Spirit whispered, ever so softly...
"You are right where you need to be."
"I can't hear you," she whispered back, choking back tears.
Silence.
She waited in expectation, motionless. A gentle breeze brushed her feet. She stayed still. She listened. She stayed still longer.
"You are so loved."
Her heart filled, and in response...
She danced.

Give ear to my words, O Lord, consider my sighing. Listen to my cry for help, my King and my God, for to you I pray. In the morning, O Lord, you hear my voice; in the morning I lay my requests before you and wait in expectation.
